Why do I do this therapy?

After giving up smoking cold turkey, as well as suffering from migraine headache, irritable bowel syndrome, sinusitis, allergic hay fever, and stress for years with no real help from drugs I started researching alternative therapies for relief. I continue to do it because of the smiles on clients' faces.
Frequently asked questions about Hypnotherapy
What is it?
A drug free therapy for people who desire change.

It is beneficial for conditions that come and go. If the condition comes on, stays or gets worse medical attention may be required.
Common problems which benefit include stress, addictions: smoking, over eating, gambling, on-line gaming, shopping etc., emotional problems: anxiety, depression, anger, fear, phobias, post-traumatic pain etc.

Who is it for?
Those people whose emotions or behaviour is putting a strain on their health, relationships at home, work or socially.

What does it do?
All behavioural problems are based on negative emotions – things like anger, fear or confusion etc.

These troublesome emotions are almost always based on old traumatic experience usually forgotten at a conscious level.

So basically it is a process of unlearning, teaching the subconscious that those old threats no longer exist and that the old tensions can be released.

What are the benefits?
When the individual stops reacting in a negative way of course relationships improve. This is not the only benefit, these emotional reactions release fight / fright chemicals into the blood stream putting a strain on the metabolism, draining energy and making us vulnerable to germs and viruses.

What does the therapist do?
The therapist acts as a coach, teacher, guide to enable the client to learn at a subconscious level that those old (usual early childhood) threats no longer no longer exist. The client is encouraged not to disclose anything that is private, personal or sensitive.

What does the client do?
The client needs to have a strong desire to change and the ability to feel the various tensions in the body. People who gain a benefit from their condition eg., unemployment benefit or a carer, may be reluctant to change.

What is involved?
Because it is not possible to make a useful assessment over the phone I encourage prospective
clients to plan on a three visit program. Each visit lasting about one and one half hours, spaced about
a week apart. However most clients achieve what they need to do in two visits.

Clients are also taught self-therapy to enable them to deal with other subsequent the never got onto
the original list.
